Alan Scheuer was chief financial officer from 2007 – 2016 of FMR LLC, the parent of Fidelity Investments, a leading provider of asset management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing and other financial products and services to more than 20 million individuals, institutions and financial intermediaries. While in this capacity, he also:

  • attended all FMR LLC Board of Directors meetings, served as an Advisor to this Board of Directors, and attended all FMR LLC Audit Committee of the Board of Directors meetings;
  • served on the Board of Pembroke (a Fidelity Real Estate Investment and Development subsidiary);
  • participated in the Board Meetings of: Pro-Build, a Fidelity-owned professional building supply materials company; Geode, a Fidelity-owned multi-strategy hedge fund; Forum, a Fidelity-owned pharmaceutical research and development company; and Star Horizon and Northern Neck Investors, Fidelity-owned entities overseeing the full spectrum of Fidelity’s various diversifying investment activities; and
  • served on the Diversified Investments Committee overseeing Fidelity-owned: oil and gas exploration and production efforts; venture capital and private equity efforts; and Colt’s telecommunication, data center, and information technology services.

 

Before assuming his role as CFO of Fidelity in July 2007, Mr. Scheuer was the treasurer of Fidelity. As treasurer, he was responsible for Fidelity’s Tax, Treasury and Insurance groups.

Prior to joining Fidelity in 2006, Mr. Scheuer served as treasurer and managing director of Morgan Stanley. Before being appointed treasurer, Mr. Scheuer was a managing director in Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Equity Division and its Equity Capital Markets Group. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 1993, he spent several years at Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), where he started-up and ran the U.S. dollar fixed-income derivatives business and also was responsible for the fixed- income capital markets origination effort directed toward U.S. corporations. Mr. Scheuer began his career at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company.

Mr. Scheuer continues to serve, as a member of the Microsoft Investment Advisory Committee, which is involved in the oversight of Microsoft’s investment of its cash resources.

Mr. Scheuer received a bachelor of science degree in finance (1975) and a master of arts degree in economics (1976) from the University of Denver.
