- Peter Löscher was born in Austria in 1957. He graduated with a Mag. rer. soc. oec. degree from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and took part in the MBA programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Harvard Business School (AMP)
- He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sulzer AG and a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG as well as a member of the Board of Directors of TBG AG, Switzerland
- Former President and CEO of Siemens AG and Vice Chairman of Renova Management AG. Previously, Peter Löscher held positions as President of Global Human Health and member of the Executive Board of Merck & Co, Inc, USA, CEO of Healthcare Bio-Sciences and member of the Corporate Executive Council of General Electric, COO and member of the Board of Directors of Amersham Plc. and various management positions at Aventis and Hoechst
- Peter Löscher was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Siemens Stiftung. He is an honorary member of the Board of the Economic Development Board of Singapore and a member of the International Advisory Council of Bocconi University
- He is an honorary professor at Tongji University in Shanghai and holds an honorary doctorate from the Department of Engineering at Michigan State University and an honorary doctorate from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
- Peter Löscher is an honorary recipient of the Gold Medal of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria, the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation and the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit of Spain
